Creating a menu, the process is quite long and laborious. Therefore, we will consider it as more details as possible. So, before creating the drop -down menu, we need to create it. To do this, we go to the menu manager, as shown in the figure below:
By default, the menu list already contains the «main menu», but we do not need it, we would learn to create our own, so we click on the Create (right at the top) and go to the next page: the settings are simple. The same value that will be the name of your menu can be introduced into all fields. Since we are making a horizontal drop -down menu, I called it Topmenu, you, in turn, can come up with any name in English. We fill in the fields and save. After that, we open the entire menu tab and there we have a line with the menu we created (the drawing below). Click on him. The editor of the points of the created menu will open in front of us: so far it is still empty and our goal is to form it. To do this, click on the Create button and go to the next window: in this window we should specify the type of our menu item, t. e. what information it will contain. Our goal is to create a menu for articles, so we select materials as shown in the figure. After that, the list of materials will be revealed and we will see the following: the list of several values has opened. First of all, we naturally need to create the main page of our site. Therefore, we choose as shown in the figure «Template of the Material Blog on the main» by pressing it with the mouse button. After that, we automatically go to the editing window of this menu item: it consists of three areas. The first region is the one that we edited above, t. e. Type of menu item. It can be changed at any time by pressing the «Change Type» button. The second region is the «detail of the menu point». Consists of the following values: — title. The name of the menu item. — Pseudonym. The name of the menu item in the row of the browser — link. This field does not need to be changed. Says for itself. — Show in. The choice of the menu in which the menu item will be located. — Parental element. Indicated in the case of creating a menu in several levels. Allows you to create a submenu. We leave the top. — Published. Says for itself. — Access. User groups are indicated to whom this menu item will be visible. — Open in. Says for itself. Also, the menu point has a number of additional parameters. Usually only basic and expanded parameters are used for configuration. The main parameters contain 4 values: — in the entire width. The number of materials that will be reflected in the entire width of the page. The countdown is carried out from above. — Introduction. Number of articles on one page. — Columns. Number of columns with materials. — Links. Permissible number of links. Extended parameters (drawing below): all points in the translated version of the admin panel speak for themselves. The only meaning that can be misleading is the «order for multicolons». It allows you to choose as if you are filled with materials when using several columns. «Down» is a filling in a column, and «cross» is a constructive filling. I will also give screenshots of the remaining parameters, but they usually remain by default: the only one in the last parameters window is the “page title” item. This value will display your heading on the page where you are crossing this menu item. After setting up the described parameters, click to save. Then we create a new menu item, again repeating the described actions, only as the type of menu it is indicated either “Section — Blog Template Ralada”, or “Category — Category blog template”. As a rule, the second option is used, since materials are published in the categories. And in the section template, the categories and not directly the article will be displayed in it. As a category and the section consist of two lines, while the second in its name contains a word not a blog, but a list. Having selected this option, your display result in the transition on the menu item will be a list of existing articles (links). Therefore, for the publication of the material, we select «Category — the Category Blog Template».
