As often unknown to us, they still lured us with their mystery and beauty. If you ever find yourself in Western Sahara, visit the city of Dahla, by the way, in Egypt (Egypt) there is the same popular oasis. To date, about 75 thousand inhabitants live in the city. It is located near the largest city of Western Sahara — El Aaiún, about 550 km south. The city stands on a small peninsula, on the shores of the Great Atlantic Ocean, this is one of the cult places.
Dahl began its history in 1502, when the Spanish colonists built on the site of a modern city, a small settlement, called Villa Sisnerros (ISP. Villa cisneros). Later, the city turned into the central part of the province of Rio de-ro, which was part of Spanish Sahara. Then a military fortress was erected in the city, as well as the Catholic Church. These buildings have become modern local monuments of Spanish culture. During the years of the Spanish Civil War, a prison also appeared in Dahl, in which, judging by the records of those years, many eminent captives were contained. Among them was Pedro Garcia Cabrera.
Later, already in the 60s of the last century, with the onset of the dictatorship of Francisco Franco, the city was rebuilt. Now it is a city-the administrative center of the OD-Ed-Dahab-Laguer region.
